Julie Jonkhans, PhD, is the Coordinator for the Own Your Future program at Western University. As an advocate for showcasing the value of the PhD, Julie leads the implementation of professional development programming that allows PhDs to explore and connect their expertise to diverse careers. Julie designs and facilitates career development curriculum and leads projects and programs in partnership with student affairs professionals, academics, industry experts, and external funders to bridge the gap between academia and the workforce. These initiatives span skill literacy, micro-credentials, program evaluation, and employer outreach, and align with her overarching goal to cultivate a robust talent pool, empower students to find meaningful employment, and promote translation of PhD skills and expertise beyond academia.
